In <em>The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire</em>, Edward Gibbon postulates that, "All that is human must retrograde if it do not advance." Based upon a seeming preponderance of anecdotal evidence of declining support for science research and education, I fear Gibbon’s prophecy may come to fruition in the US. This weblog is a record of all such evidence I find, in the hope that it spurs concerned Americans to better understand and reverse this trend.
