A lifelong feminist, I am the matriarch of my large family. I have 4 grown daughters, 3 sons-in law, and 1 grandson. I have 5 younger brothers, 11 nieces and nephews, a grandnephew, a grandniece, and 45 younger first cousins. I am married to an English computer programmer; I am divorced from my first husband of 28 years, a radiation physicist. I have worn many hats: book and magazine editor, children's and young adult librarian, social worker, La Leche leader, childbirth educator, manic depressive, and internet tutor. I stayed at home full-time with my girls from 1973 to 1989, from 1994-1997. I cared for my mom 24/7 the last three years of her life. I write about mothering, grandmothering, feminism, aging, and mental illness.
