Voices from the Shadows was developed to provide a community forum to explore and examine the world around us through the Buddhist lens. Buddhism and its tenets are starting to permeate the social fabric of society, particularly America, as evidenced by our common vocabulary which now includes words like karma and Zen, the public awareness of Buddhism and Buddhists (i.e., Tina Turner, Daniel Pearl, Richard Gere, Herbie Hancock, Orlando Bloom), as well as books like The Secret and The Law of Attraction that draw from some, not all, of the basics of Buddhism.
Voices from the Shadows will allow Nichiren Daishonin Buddhists to express their opinions on current events, spirituality, morality, ethics, and more. The teachings of Nichiren Daishonin will serve as a guide for discussion. This forum will provide a place to make friends, deepen your faith, understand the faith, spread the teachings as well as provided needed spiritual nourishment. It is our hope that VFS will help people make connections between their daily life and the practice of the Daishonin’s Buddhism.
