328 - Sandwich
I couldn't leave Philly without having one more cheese steak. If I really wanted a real true to life authentic cheese steak I would have gone down to Pat's or Gino's. I got this at the first local pub I found in the area when I first moved to Philly. It's a proper Irish/American bar where many still speak in a thick brogue.
I probably have only had a handful of these in the last 7 years. I like them okay, but I will usually find something healthier that I like better on the menu.
This may be the last post on here for awhile. As my internet is being disconected today and I won't have access except for work until at least the 15th. I will try to post the 12 of 12 on time. I will be taking lots of photos in either case.

311 - Rose
One more from my February 12 of 12 although it shouldn't have been (it wasn't taken on the 12th). Ironically, having been born on Valentines Day, I like roses and like giving them to my friends to celebrate it. This one was growing in Hawaii. You might think that Hawaii would be a great place to grow them, but without a dorment period I don't think they would do so good. This garden was a bit spindly and had only a few roses in bloom. Plants also respond to the day length, so maybe they would have been in better condition if it were summer?

316 - Apple
This one was part of my February 12 of 12 as well. Just looking at this made me go and cut up and eat one. Gala was the apple of choice... crisp, sweet, and the skin isn't too tough. Produce number 4135, I don't know if that is universal throughout the world, but my guess it is.

41 - Time
This is one of four pocket watches I inheirited from my father. His hobby, at least for a short time, was watch repair. I guess this was an extension of his work at the time... for a short while he was a aircraft instument repair technician after he left the air force.

106 - BBQ

This was part of my 12 of 12 for February. This is some really good bar-b-que, but I have had better. I've found it hard to find top notch bar-b-que north of the Mason Dixon Line. Down south is where you find the best of the best, but every region has there own variation of it... everything from a mustard based sauce to dry rub. It's all good...
P.S.
I hate my ISP... I've been trying to post a few themes this evening and found it to be like pulling teeth. My photo uploads are timing out and now even my dialog won't load half the time. I will be dropping RCN when I move...that is for sure.
P.P.S.
Got it loaded finally.

346 - Moonlight
I'm really not too pleased with the shots I got tonight. For some reason I can never seem to get the the moon in focus. I use manual focus and through the viewfinder it looks great, but the image is always just a bit off. I even try to tweak the focus and bracket... same thing... blur. I use a remote shutter release, eyepeice cap, tripod even a VR lens. Oh well, I have two years two perfect my technique till the next eclipse.

212 - Warning
Here's a continuation on my Hawaiin series. The green sea turtle eats the seaweed around the reefs surounding Hawaii. Afterward they like to rest, bask and digest their food on the beaches. If they are frightened back in the sea while they're still lethargic, they run a higher risk of being food for tiger sharks. They set up ropes and signs around the turtles to keep people away. There are big fines (including jail time) for those who don't heed the warnings.

231 - Cocktail
P.S.
Perhaps I should clarify... the strutting rooster causing the motion blur is the one in front of the camera, not the one behind the lens.

354 - Beach
Reminded me a bit of Gilligan's Island. This might have been one of the locations. It was filmed on location in Hawaii. The opening scene showing the marina looks much the same today as it did back then.

301 - Church
Here is a photo of the ceiling inside the Painted Church. The Hawaiins never did anything inside, except sleep and shelter themselves from bad weather. So the Belgian monks who built the church, in order to get the locals inside, panted six large murials and the ceiling.

286 - Cartoon
This might be a stretch, but since the hat is from one of the earliest and best of Disney's feature cartoons, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, I think it fits the theme. This is taken from my mothers workplace, MGM Studios (now called Disney Hollywood Studios)

100 - Carved
Here is one view of the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom. I can't say for sure that the images are carved, but they are made to give that impression.

I know the list, coming from Helen, that by torch she was probably refering to what we yanks call a flashlight, but I'm using these Tiki torches for my photo.

23 - Water
After I missed out on two previous opportunities to capture images of Humpback whales, I got one final chance when the ship cruised along the isolated Na Pali coast. I took several shots, but as you can imagine it's not easy to capture them before they disappear beneath the waves again. This is the best shot out of 30 I had taken.

Here's a veiw of the rugged Na Pali Coast on the island of Kaua'i. Most of this side of the island is only accessible by helicopter or boat.
