I have an update and 2 new starts!

Good Evening all,
I can't believe it's the middle of the week all ready and next week is Thanksgiving. Where did the time go?

I wanted to share something Veldahad posted to her blog. Her title of the post was Memory Lane. Here are the rules:

Find the 6th folder in your pictures directory and post the 6th photo in it.

So here are the instructions:

* Go to your sixth picture folder then pick your sixth picture
* Pray that you remember the details ;)
* Post it on your blog
* Anyone who leaves a comment on my blog must post a picture on their blog. You are not required to do this. This is just for fun.

Here is my picture I found:

This was some of the floss I had purchased when Walmart was selling the DMC floss at a low price because they aren't selling it any longer. I went back and purchased more. It didn't all fit into the plastic container and there was no way I was going to actually put it on bobbins. I did the next best thing. I purchased some plastic bins that you use for nuts and bolts. I love it. Now when I am looking for a color I don't already have on bobbins I go to the Walmart stash.

Onto the stitching report:

I did finish one arm of the Peacock Stitching Chair. I think my reading glasses are going to have to be upgraded. I found myself really squinting and I had to take breaks because my head would start hurting. Once I get the second arm done then it is on to putting the chair together.

I was talking with my sister the other day about Christmas and she was telling me she doesn't feel like decorating this year because her husband is due to go to Iraq Decemeber 26. Her husband has all ready did a tour in Afghanistan. I wanted to do something to lift her spirits and decided to stitch an ornament. I decided to stitch a freebie by Erica Michaels called Support Our Troops. I am stitching this on 28 count beige fabric with Dmc floss.

I joined the Seasonal Ornament SAL blog. We will be stitching a Theme every two weeks so at the end of the year we will have a whole theme of ornaments. I think I can do this as long as I don't do any big projects for next year. The first theme is Thanksgiving and it needs to be completed on November 30th. I started my ornament over the weekend. This is a freebie design by Nancy Boggio of Sunflower Days Designs. I decided to stitch the Turkey design on 18 count oatmeal fabric.

That's it for my stitching update. It is time for me to get to bed. I'm so ready. Thank you for stopping by and leaving your comments. I wish you each a great day tomorrow.

Hugs,
Carolyn

A winner, an award, a finish, and a new start...

Good evening everyone,

I have lots to catch you up on so let me get started. I entered a contest on the Stitch Pink blog for 3 Esmeralda's or Essy's Friends kits available through Elegant Stitch to raise money for Breast Cancer Reasearch. Sandy was running this contest and notified me that I was one of three winners for the Flower of Courage kit. I am so thrilled to have one and can't wait to stitch it up.

The next great thing to happen was I was chosen for an award by BW

Here are the rules:

The rules for acceptance of the award are as follows:

1. Pick 5 blogs that you consider deserving of this award based on their creativity, design, interesting material and also for contributing to the blogging community, no matter what language.

2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.

3. Each winner has to show the award and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.

Kristin

Megan

Donna

Caroline

Meari

I think everyone has a great blog and deserves this award. I think whomever reads this blog should grab the award and pass it on. Let's see how far this award travels.

I finished Prim Girl Nurse. I completed her on Sunday(11-2-08). She was so much fun to stitch up. I had no backstitching except for the two button on her uniform. There were no 1/2 stitches. It was a quick stitch up for a xmas present. I plan on finding a frame for her. Do you think she looks great completed?

This was stitched on 28 count Jobelan antique Ivory with DMC floss.

Okay, I should be working on the Peacock Stitching Chair and I plan on to this weekend. I couldn't resist to start one more pattern that I purchased from Caroline from Cosmic Handmade. This pattern is called Native Mandala. I started stitching on Sunday night(11-02-08). I stitched some more on Monday but that was it. I am stitching this on 28 count Jobelan Beige with DMC floss. There are no backstitches and no 1/2 stitches. Here is what I have stitched so far.

I think I will work on the Peacock Stitching Chair arms Saturday tomorrow. Sunday is not a good day for concentrating. I have Nascar and Football to watch. I wish each of you a great day of stitching. Thank you for stopping by and leaving your comments.

Hugs,
Carolyn

Prim Girl Nurse Update

Hello and Good Morning!

I have an update on the Prim Girl Nurse that I had started stitching from my last post. Here is what I have as of today.

I made one change to her. I went with the one color for her hair. All I have left to stitch is the hat, arms, band aid and the wording.

I said that Monday I was going to start back stitching on the Peacock Stitching Chair. I still have the two arm rolls to complete. Monday I didn't get to it because I really wanted to finish stitching the hair on the Prim Girl Nurse. I finished Monday evening before going to sleep.

I was going to work on the Stitching Chair yesterday but was so drained by the end of the day yesterday. My son HATES math. He is always struggling with it. The problem he has is he won't admit that he doesn't get what he has to do with math problems. He will sit there and try, try, and try until he figures out the answer. He spent 10 minutes on one problem. We went round and round and finally I got him to admit he didn't understand what he was doing. He is 13 years old on top of the stubborn streak. So last night I just couldn't pick up any stitching. I just sat on the couch and zoned out until it was time to go to bed.

Today, we will take this math thing one step at a time. I will be more patient and he will agree with everything I tell him. Oh well, it may not go that smoothly but a person can dream a little.

I think I will get on my bike and take a short ride. I haven't done it in such a long time that I have been missing it a lot. The Mornings here are cool but the afternoons are still very warm. I prefer to go in the late morning.

That is all I have for now. Take care and have a wonderful day! Thank you for stopping by and leaving your comments!
