Trading and Technical Analysis

Some students have asked me why I have not been posting in my blog for sometime.

Well, I've been very busy with trading everyday - stocks, futures, options - day and night.
If you want to look at my postings on stocks and indexes, please visit www.terraseeds.com on chart analysis section.

What have I been doing?

Caught the low of recent upwave, entered mostly blue chips when ST index was around 2800. Oh yes, I have also taught those who came for the practice class how to use sentiments indicators to spot for turning points.

Long call options on various strong stocks in US, especially Oil and gas and agriculture stocks.

If you want to look at a recent analysis (fresh out from oven) on Dow Jones Index, please visit:

Gold (GLD) - rallies to $1000

If Gold can decisively close above $1000, then we are looking at a target of $1050 (at least) before it might pause (pause to breath only) for a while. Gold broke out of a pennant (a continuation pattern).
I'm long Gold, short dollar, long AUD and NZD on long term basis.

Shorting USD/JPY from 118

Have went on a long term short of USD and buy JPY when JPY at 118. Right now, USD hit new low. I'm going to hang on tight to my positions and wait for a target of 98.

Gold (GLD) - $1000 is not far anymore

Gold broke out of a wedge.
This means that it has lots of strength in this move.
Looks like $1000 target is not far.

Tat Hong - broke below neckline of a head and shoulder

Tat Hong has a head and shoulder pattern.
Broke neckline and 200 days moving average.
Of particular importance is actually the volume. I'm quite concerned that this selling volume is relatively significant. Under this situation, it is better to let the dust settle, let the selling volume dries up.
Recent fall in Tat Hong is also likely linked to its earnings performance. Let dust clears....

Dow Jones rejected critical level 12800

Dow never break above 12800, a critical level....so...not surprised that Dow registerd a 300 point fall on friday.
The question is, then, the current formation seems like a pullback (like a last struggle) to the neckline and might suggest further fall.
Currently, it is supported by a upsloping support line but would think that 12,000 might offer a stronger support.
If this support fails, I will open more put trades.

US Market shows a minor trend reversal

My friend asked me, why did I close my put position before Chinese New Year? How did I know when to close the put position?

I don't know....I just see the signal on my screen...follow the indication and that's it.

The call positions entered last night went very well, as I've suspect a minor trend reversal to move higher. Dow and S&P500 don't want to move down saying that at this moment, it seems that bad news has stopped flowing into the market. People are again looking at the fundamental.

What to play now? Trend reversal. Simple as that. Taught in Practical Technical Analysis Class. Most growth stocks like POT, CF, FCX, PCU, MA are showing higher low and seems like breaking the horizontal resistance level. In fact, some stocks broke already.

Now queuing for more call positions.

This POT sure looks good.

Happy Chinese New Year

Good morning!

Today I woke up, a holiday in Singapore - Chinese New Year.

Would like to wish all a very happy, prosperous new year and hope that you will be very happy and healthy and wealthy.

Today I won't be going to my relatives' house as I'm still mourning for my grandma. Mom is going to cook my grandma signature dish - pig stomach soup - a soup that reminds me of grandma.

Well, I still happy today. All the put options did very well in just a night work and I closed off all put positions last night. A neaty 10% gain in just one night. Closed position to spend a nice and comfy movie and food night with my family.

Wilmar - a bullish reversal in play

Wilmar is one of the few stocks above 200 days moving average.

It is also among the few that we have highlighted on the agribusiness play (apart from Indofood, Goldenagri, POT, CF (US options)).

Now, are we expecting a bullish reversal?

Waiting for confirmation at this moment bearing in mind that we have a short trading week ahead of Chinese New Year.

Wishing all a happy CNY and a prosperous one too.

p/s this year, I can't really celebrate CNY so probably stay at home till 3rd and 4th day when I need to play host to my Indonesia associate.

Strait Asia Resources - Breakout of 52 weeks high

Another SM play highlighted in the last Practical Technical Analysis course.

52 weeks high stock is hard to come across now, especially when lots of stocks are under their 200 moving average line.

JES International - intraday update

Recently few IPOs did not perform very well, except those in the hot sector - agribusiness!! (My favorite sector in the US)
Shipbuilders like Yangzijiang and stocks that relate to dry bulk rate e.g. STX PO suffered badly.
JES did not escape as well.
I did a fibonacci extension level and found that $0.50 might be a potential strong level of support based on C theory.
Chart updated intraday at 12.30pm. Broughtly brought to you by TerraSeeds.
