Ipevo TRIO and Vista .. the story goes on.

This blog post is a successor to my posts Ipevo Trio And The Vista Thing and Ipevo doesn't seem to like Vista but Apple Macs.

Ipevo now did re-launch their homepage and what do I see? The Vista compatibility is suddenly back?!?!?

A sidenote: I have sent emails to the guy doing the official Ipevo Group on LinkedIn. So far no reply to my blog yet or any firmware/software issues I have told.


The level of strangeness when it comes to OS support is amazing.

Skype's support isn't so bad / Vivatel however ignores any questions

Recently, I had to come to the conclusion that Skype's support isn't that bad after all, at least they reply to their emails.

Our call rates are the same no matter where you are calling from, they only vary depending on where you are calling to, for more information please see our call rates list:

If you are calling a mobile phone that is abroad then the receiver will have to pay roaming charges according to their roaming agreement. Also, in some countries people are charged for incoming call as well as outgoing by their phone provider.

Now I needed the info from Vivatel regarding this issue.

Sending emails and even a fax caused... NO reaction and the international numbers mentioned seem to be premium numbers that do not work from Skype. In the downs of their homepage I found one that works: +359 (0) 87123 and then the case was like: they hung up on me on the *English* hotline.

You know this kind of... *something in Bulgarian* " Vivatel" *something in Bulgarian again*. Then "For English, press '1'" - "Your call may be monitored to assure service quality" - *somebody says something in Bulgaria* and I say: "Hello there, I hope you speak English, too" *click*

Skype: "call ended",

Thank you!

maybe he dropped his headset or fell on the X key on his phone's dialpad.

The 2nd try I was put on hold and they found somebody who knew English.


Their homepage is full of errors, too...

For example a nice service they offer for business customers are:

weak up calls. Maybe it's for managers that are too powerful.

Official TV composite cable for Iphone3G is OUT!

After many ftrustrated users because old iphone cables no longer worked after a firmware update (even the well-prised and known cable from DealExtreme stopped working (they send me 2 different cables built differently fot trying).).

Now Apple seems to have sorted out the issues, at least now an Official TV composite cable for Iphone3G is OUT!


I have just ordered one for myself and will report here whether it works or whether it does not!

IPEVO: Doesn't seem to like Vista but starts to love Apple Macs!

As Ipveo pointed out on their blog, they re-released the Ipevo TRIO speakerphone, made it white and added softeare for Mac and Ichat. (Yes, the same product which was first claimed to be Vista compatible and then.... not.!

Well good luck on that market dear Ipevo!

14th mio users and 5 years skype, my perspective

This image shows 14th mio users and 5 years skype.

As Skype-Watch already pointed out, I didn't write my view about this yet. This is because I have been on holidays.

The image is from Siim Teller and shows perfectly the changes within Skype (thanks to the pictures he used!) and the milstones Skype reached over the years.

My personal fave ones are:

*2003: The launch of Skype, the awesome sound quality (eventhough it was still half-dublex back then!) really made it outstanding and kicking! :) I was a user since day one they released it and still am! :)

*2004: Free conference calling, this is something which I used back then with my ex-classmates and friends and it was a lot of fun so thank you!

- SkypeOut: Allowing me to get a rid of my PSTN line and do calls to abroad from Skype alone! (hint: quality issues to certain numbers should be sent to - including all details - to: pstn-feedback[at]skype.net)


*2005: SKype voicemail: I never had more fun than when listening to strange voicemails left to my Skype account's voicemail!

*2006: Skype wi-fi phones: The Netgear SPH101 worked fine until Skype did some server chnages and the latest firmware I tried destroyed the phone because it wouldn't but up anymore after *successful flashing*!

The Belkin wi-fi phone has also some qulity issues ever since but it still works to the surprise of Skype-Watch!

*2007: The Skype desktop phones introduction is another highlight! I have got one myself and it's amazing! It's really working well!
