Betting Co. Offering £10,000 To First Player Who Does Ridiculous Goal Celebration

November 21st, 2008 | By: chris | 0 Comments

There are all kinds of legal hangups here, so that £10,000 may in fact end up costing the player, but it's a clever attempt from Betfair nonetheless. They're offering £10,000 for the first Prem player with no shame willing to look like a jackass with some dance which resembles an ode to Daniel Larusso by a sorority girl who should've been cut off hours ago. Basically it's on-pitch advertising for their new betting game, or something.

So what happens if someone scores and does the Tai Kai, then another person, not knowing the Tai Kai was so 15 minutes ago, does the same? How big an ass will that guy feel like selling his soul for pounds he'll never see?

I suppose now we have to speculate on the Tai Kai champion. My vote goes to Cristiano Ronaldo - ManU isn't paying him enough, or haven't you heard - but I'm looking forward to Ashley Cole setting up shop in the Newcastle box for 90 minutes.

We found out about two unique methods of motivating footballers today. The first involves watching pornography as a reward for winning matches, the second involves breaking blocks of wood in half. Guess which one comes from Denmark.

Kaka vs Ronaldo? No Contest

November 20th, 2008 | By: Daryl | 5 Comments

Brazil vs Portugal was billed as Kaka vs Ronaldo. If that was so, then someone raise Kaka's arm. Brazil won 6-2 with the Jesus-owned playmaker pulling the strings.

More importantly this was Dunga vs Carlos Queiroz, two embattled coaches who couldn't really afford a defeat. OK, it was only a friendly, but a 6-2 defeat to a former colony? That doesn't ... [read]

Surprisingly Stylish Tunisia Unable to Score in Accra

Team: Tunisia
November 21st, 2008 | By: Rami | 6 Comments

This game is somewhat bittersweet in that it was a great performance that no one got to see live. TV7 never got its act together to get the rights on time so most everyone who was interested listened to it on the radio. However, after reading multiple match reports, listening to technical analysis, and watching the match highlights, I can safely say that our players delivered an above average performance considering the long list of absences.

The remodeled team, which included three players making their Eagles debut (Ifa, Allagui, Saihi), dominated the proceedings in the Ghanaian heat and easily could have won the game by a wide margin. Sure Ghana hit the crossbar once and had some threatening moments but they were few and far between when you compare them to our sustained pressure throughout. What is most positive about the result is that it came away from home (and not just anywhere, in West Africa where we will face Nigeria away next summer) and our players showed great understanding, movement, and creativity. Not bad for a team made up of players who were largely unfamiliar with each other.

In a game that was played in the shadows, Egypt entertained Benin's squirrels with five goals in style with an average performance suited for the guests.

I think the last time we won with such a score line was…ummm Cote D'ivoire 4-1 (Djibouti is an exception) and in a friendly (Sudan….o-4) so I guess we have something to cheer about.
